Anthony Restaino (MSIV) is an MD/PhD candidate at the USD Sanford School of Medicine. Prior to medical school, Anthony worked in the lab of Dr. Jill de Jong at the University of Chicago, and in the lab of Dr. Bertrand Huber at the VA Boston Healthcare System. He conducted his PhD work at Sanford Research under the guidence of Dr. Paola Vermeer, studying the recruitment and function of sensory nerves in HPV+ head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Since the completion of his PhD work, he has continued his work by investingating the function of the peripheral nervous system in extracranial pediatric solid cancers. When not in the clinic or the lab, Anthony enjoys travelling, cooking, swimming, and rock climbing, and will be applying for pediatric residency this year.
