This graph shows the distribution of hypocalcemia, hypercalcemia, and normal serum values among pediatric trauma patients prior to transfusion (left). The right sided graph represents the redistribution of serum calcium values following transfusion. Following blood product administration, there is an observed trend of transitioning to the abnormal categorization. This highlights an area of further study needed to better understand the mechanism.
