For blood cultures, there was a significant difference between positivity rates in surveillance versus non-surveillance cultures in both the ECMO +/- CRRT and CRRT only groups (p < 0.001, respectively). For urine cultures, there was not a significant difference between positivity rates in surveillance versus non-surveillance cultures in the ECMO +/- CRRT (p=0.534) or CRRT only groups (p=0.245).
Those who received at least one surveillance culture during the study period had a higher percentage of days exposure to antibiotics compared to those who had no surveillance cultures during the study period (p=0.01).
