Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander (NHPI) children made up 58.9% of infection cases but only 14.2% of the statewide pediatric population, whereas White (14.6% vs 34.2%) and Asian (23.5% vs 51.1%) children were underrepresented among cases. Differences were statistically significant (χ² test, p < 0.0001).
Rates of SAG infections in complicated pediatric head and neck infections from 2019-2025. The proportion of cases caused by the Streptococcus anginosus group (SAG) increased from ~5-6% in 2019-2020 to >20% by 2024-2025, representing a statistically significant upward trend.
