Rates in preterm birth rates (per 1,000 live births) among mothers in Maui County compared with control counties (Honolulu and Hawaii), 2018-2024. Rates increased in Maui during the T3 period (1-3 months after the wildfire), whereas rates decreased during the T1 period (7-10 months after the fire).
Rates in low birth weight (LBW) infants ( <2,500 g) per 1,000 live births among mothers in Maui County compared with control counties (Honolulu and Hawaii), 2018-2024. The rate of LBW increased in Maui County during the T3 period but declined during the T2 and T1 periods relative to controls.
Difference-in-differences (DID) regression results for preterm birth, low birth weight, and abnormal conditions at birth among births in Maui County compared with control counties, 2018-2024.
