Background: vCreate, a neonatal video platform, was introduced at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), UK, in 2020 to support family-integrated care and enhance parent-baby bonding through short daily video clips and photos. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased use of neonatal video technologies.

Objective: To explore current staff attitudes toward neonatal video software following vCreate implementation, and if they differed by profession.

Design/Methods: NICU staff were invited to complete an anonymous (online or paper) prospective survey between May and October 2025. Questions assessed perceptions of neonatal video software in relation to patients, parents and staff. Responses were recorded separately for continuous video streaming and short daily clips. Attitudes were compared by professional role. For analysis, respondents were split into two groups. Group 1 being Doctors and advanced neonatal nurse practitioners on the medical rota (n=27), and Group 2 being nurses, nursery nurses and allied healthcare professionals (n=45), to compare attitudes dependent on clinical role.

Results: 72 staff responded (39 nurses, 21 doctors, 6 ANNPs, 4 nursery nurses, 2 AHPs).

Both groups agreed that video technology could enhance parent-infant bonding and reduce parental anxiety, with stronger support for short clips. In group 1, 82% "definitely" agreed short clips would improve bonding, compared with 15% for continuous access; in group 2, figures were 53% and 18%, respectively.

Perceived risks were notably greater for continuous streaming: 41% of group 1 and 40% of group 2 felt it could compromise patient confidentiality, versus 11% and 9% for short clips. Staff privacy concerns were also higher for continuous access, with one-third of medics and over half of non-medics expressing worry.

Willingness to implement short daily video clips was higher among Group 1 for short daily video clips but did not differ significantly between groups (short clips: χ²(5)=5.2, p=0.39). Both groups were not keen on implementing continuous video access (continuous: χ²(5)=7.6, p=0.18).

Conclusion(s): Healthcare professionals at UHCW NICU shared similar attitudes towards neonatal video recording, with no statistically significant differences between groups regarding its impact on bonding or confidentiality. Both groups recognised short daily video clips as beneficial for enhancing family-centred care and were generally willing to continue their use; however, willingness to implement continuous video streaming was low in both groups, partly due to concerns about staff privacy and confidentiality.
